John Gore arrives in Roxbury.

A descendant, John Gore, he serves the town for many years as selectman and clerk of writs. A merchant and Loyalist, he leaves Boston for Halifax in 1776, but returns and has his citizenship restored by the General Court in 1787. His son Christopher becomes governor of Massachusetts. Another branch of the family become longtime residents of Jamaica Plain.
